Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese mentioned the India-Australia Industry and Research Collaboration for Reducing Plastic Waste Initiative that SMaRT is involved in as part of their joint bilateral statement recently.

"Prime Minister Modi welcomed Prime Minister Albanese’s outline of the forthcoming roadmap for the India-Australia Industry and Research Collaboration for Reducing Plastic Waste initiative, focused on plastic waste reduction and circular economy cooperation" (under item 13 of the joint PMs announcement).

The India-Australia Industry and Research Collaboration for Reducing Plastic Waste is a collaboration between three Indian and three Australian institutions, including CSIRO, UNSW SMaRT Centre and UTS in Australia and TERI, CSIR-NEERI and Development Alternatives in India.

The collaboration has been working on a Roadmap for a circular economy for plastics in India for the past 2.5 years and is excited to launch it soon.
