The UNSW SMaRT Centre Director was keynote speaker at the recent UNSW HDR Employability Symposium that brought together Higher Degree Research candidates, alumni and industry partners for a day of insights, skill-building and connection.
In collaboration with the UNSW Graduate Research School, the one-day event was designed to equip students with the tools and confidence to transition from research to career.
The day began with a keynote address by Professor Veena Sahajwalla AO who spoke about her and the SMaRT Centre's journey in researching and developing innovative waste and recycling technologies, including MICROfactoriesTM and Green SteelTM Polymer Injection Technology.
This was followed by three interactive workshops facilitated and an alumni panel, where graduates shared how they’ve navigated pivotal decision points and built impactful careers across sectors.
The day concluded with an engaging networking session, connecting attendees with organisations across a range of industries.
