SMaRT artefacts at Powerhouse Museum

Some of UNSW SMaRT Centre's research equipment behind some of its pioneering waste and recycling innovations are held at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (Powerhouse).

A modified furnace, furnace rod, crucibles and various samples are now artefacts held by the museum as examples of innovations in design and technology for recycling purposes.

These objects were used to conduct research at SMaRT@UNSW under the leadership of centre director, Professor Veena Sahajwalla, to develop techniques to transform car waste into reusable, valuable materials, including the now famous Green Steel technology.

For a full rundown and images, visit the MAAS webpage that explains the history behind this equipment.
