Netherlands and Australia circular collaboration

On 16 September 2021, Veena will deliver a speech on waste recycling innovations and the circular economy to a seminar hosted by the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.

The event is part of the Dutch-Australian project on circular textiles, and follows SMaRT's participation in the recent special textiles recycling exhibit and round table event hosted by Environment Minister Sussan Ley at Parliament House, Canberra.

The online webinar involves parties from both Australia and the Netherlands online for a plenary session followed by business/organisation matchmaking (this can also be done via the project's signup page on MVO Nederlands).

The Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands's trade and investment page on LinkedIn has a post on this initiative here.

Background from MVO Nederlands

The Government of the Netherlands desires to maintain its frontrunner position in the circular economy space and is actively engaged in accelerating adoption of circularity in the textiles sector. By 2025, the Dutch government is pushing the share of recycled material in textile products to be a minimum of 25%. To make a global impact, the textile industry in every country needs to become more circular, which is why the Netherlands is actively looking for partnerships with stakeholders in other countries. In this programme we help you find Dutch partners who are looking for international collaboration in the field of circular textiles. The programme is open to stakeholders from the Australian public sector, Australian businesses as well as knowledge institutions.

Matchmaking will be done prior to a digital event in September 2021, when we will bring all Dutch and Australian parties together for a plenary session, followed by interactive engagement between stakeholders. We will further support potential partnerships by exploring collaboration options and opportunities for all parties involved.

WHY YOU SHOULD JOIN

  • To broaden your knowledge about circulair textiles by meeting entrepreneurs, universities, public sector stakeholders and design institutions from the Netherlands
  • To have speeddates with preselected, relevant parties on the basis of needs and ambitions
  • To expand you network with organisations from the Netherlands and Australia that have same ambitions on circulair procurement, recycling and circular design.

FOR WHO?

The programme is open to all companies, the public sector as well as knowledge institutions in fashion and textiles in the Netherlands and Australia that have the ambition to increase circularity in textiles. There is a preference for partners in the earlier mentioned streams of Circular Procurement, Recycling Techniques and Design for Circularity.
