MECLA Government and Industry Event

On 16 May 2022, Veena will join a joint MECLA and NSW Government event at The Sydney Mint which will be live streamed as a webinar.

UNSW SMaRT Centre is a founding partner of MELCA (Materials and Embodied Carbon Leaders’ Alliance) and the event will celebrate the establishment and achievements of MECLA over the course of the past year and launch of its next stage.

Veena will join a panel of founding partners to talk about collaborative action and innovations that reduce embodied carbon in the building and construction industry, highlighting some of UNSW SMaRT Centre's recycling technologies.

Senior government representatives and CEOs of MECLA Founding Partner organisations will address their zero carbon commitments and pledges to drive down carbon emissions. Following this, there will be a panel discussion hosted by Hudson Worsley, Chair of MELCA.

About MELCA:

Materials & Embodied Carbon Leaders’ Alliance (MECLA) brings together the drive to reduce embodied carbon in the building and construction industry.

MECLA is determined to transform the building and construction sector to reach Net-Zero emissions. MECLA recognises the growing demand for lower and zero-carbon materials worldwide and, MECLA is keen to explore how we can work together to move Australia towards a zero-carbon economy and position Australia in the top five zero-carbon materials suppliers.

MECLA launched on 22 April 2021 as an NSW government supported program. Together with our industry partners we are building momentum towards the low carbon economy. Since our launch, we have grown to boast 120 Founding Partners from around the country and across the construction ecosystem including private sector, government agencies, research institutions and other professional bodies.
