ecologiQ Greener Infrastructure Conference 2025

UNSW SMaRT Centre Director Professor Veena will be keynote speaker for the 2025 ecologiQ Greener Infrastructure Conference on 30 October.

ecologiQ is a Victorian Government initiative to integrate recycled and reused content into every corner of Victoria’s $100 billion Big Build by incorporating waste products wherever possible, drawing a crucial connection between Victoria’s transport projects and the reform of Victoria’s recycling system.

This 2-day event at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre will bring together leaders in government, sustainability and infrastructure to explore how to accelerate our shift to a greener future.

The conference is hosted by the Victorian Government's ecologiQ program and presents a unique opportunity to learn about how greener materials are being integrated into transport infrastructure and how collaboration and innovation can take it to the next level.

Prof Veena Keynote: It's not a waste problem, it’s a manufacturing opportunity

What if instead of focusing on waste as a problem, we looked at the opportunities it opens up for Australia’s manufacturing sector? This new perspective unlocks a whole world of innovation, forward thinking, collaboration, and opportunity.

Join Professor Veena Sahajwalla – internationally recognised materials scientist, engineer, and inventor – as she shares how she is revolutionising recycling science. She will demonstrate how she has harnessed the opportunities presented by waste through her MICROfactoriesTM.

With breakthrough technology in e-waste and ceramics, MICROfactoriesTM are proving the viability of the process, and primed for quick deployment to where they can add the most value.
