Critical Minerals Symposium

UNSW SMaRT Centre Director Prof Veena will speak at Critical Minerals Symposium 3-4 January 2025 in India.

The event is hosted by the Australia-India Critical Minerals Research Hub (AICMRH), established following an MoU between IIT Hyderabad and Monash University and endorsed by Hon. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister of Education, India, and Hon. Jason Clare MP, Minister for Education, Australia.

The Hub aims to address global challenges in critical minerals research and drive innovations for sustainable mining practices.

Veena will be talking about harnessing the critical materials from electronic waste and other recycled materials for use as feedstock in remanufacturing of the components needed for future electrification infrastructure and hardware.

She will highlight that using innovations such as UNSW SMaRT Centre's recycling and MICROfactorieTM technologies that recover valuable materials from waste and reform them into new manufacturing feedstock and products through collaborators, are central to help achieve the sustainability needed for the future.
