The Business of Waste event

On 25 March 2022, Veena will deliver a keynote address on "The business of waste" to a forum hosted by the University of New England (UNE) and its Smart Region Incubator (SRI). 

Veena will talk about many of the latest UNSW SMaRT Centre 'waste to product' technologies as well as the new national Sustainable Communities and Waste Hub she is Leader of.

UNE Tamworth and SRI are delighted to host Professor Veena Sahajwalla for an Entrepreneurs Hour event. Veena, who is visiting Tamworth for Regional Waste Warriors '100 mile dinner', will discuss how we can leverage waste for economic benefit at a rural and regional level AND contribute to positive environmental outcomes.

  • The basics of circular economy – aligning waste and manufacturing

  • Opportunities for rural & regional economies to improve the local economy through smart waste practices: new industry opportunities; opportunities for existing industries; modular micro factories

  • Opportunities hidden in waste

The session will run from 12 noon - 1.00 pm, with a light lunch to following from 1.00pm - 1.30 pm for all attendees.
