The ABC Radio PM current affairs program has featured an interview with UNSW SMaRT Centre Director, Prof Veena, about Australia's efforts to phase out single use plastics by 2025.

Australia is inching towards the government's goal of phasing out most single use plastics by 2025.

Each state and territory is taking a different approach, but plastics bags, straws, cutlery and plastic-stemmed cotton buds are among the items that can't be offered in some jurisdictions already.

So, what do we do when take-away coffee cups can't have plastics lids and we can't get plastic forks with our take-away?
