Lucas is a Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering who completed his studies at UNSW in 2020. He is interested in integrating automation, computer vision and machine learning with manufacturing processes and hopes to learn more about material science at the SMaRT Centre.

Lucas joined the SMaRT Centre Microfactorie Team in 2021 for his first full time roll as an engineer and has since worked on several projects, ranging from Green Ceramics to plastic filaments and e-waste.

His primary rolls have been centred around adding sensors to manufacturing processes, applying mechanical engineering skills to tools for robot arms, programming those robot arms to complete a task in a manufacturing process and writing code to process data such as population statistics and sample images.

He has also been involved in community outreach events, including workshops with high school students and a textile and ceramic collection event.
